PPS plastic heat resistant

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a high temperature (Tm = 285°C) thermoplastic material that provides an excellent combination of thermal, mechanical and chemical resistance. It is inherently flame-retardant, and is almost immune to various chemical substances, even for long periods of time and at high temperatures. It is commercially available in 2 types: branched (crosslinked and cured) and linear. Linear PPS is the second-generation product, which provides easy processing, consistent batch-to-batch consistency and high strength and toughness. It is available in a range of molecular weight, allowing it to be used in a variety of processes from injection blow molding of thin parts. It also has lower ionic impurities and is colored.

Injection molding grade, can be combined with glass fiber reinforced materials and glass fiber/mineral, and many other grades have been formulated with other additives to meet the requirements of various end-uses. These products are widely used to replace traditional engineering materials, such as metals, thermoset plastics and ceramics:

1. Automotive applications: power train components, pumps, fuel rails and sensors

2. Electrical/electronic components: surface mount connectors and chip carriers

3. Industrial/mechanical applications: fan and pump parts, impellers and flow meters

4. Consumer/electrical equipment: electric heater equipment, hot comb parts, non-stick coatings, power tool parts, microwave components and insulators

6. Film/insulating paper: used for motor insulation materials.

7. Chemical industry: PPS has excellent adhesion and corrosion resistance, and is extremely suitable for lining chemical equipment.

Linear PPS polymers can be extruded, blow molded or compression molded into blocks, rods, and are often used to prototype other stock shapes. Unfilled linear polymers can also be melt-spun and melt-blown to produce fibers and fabrics used in conveyor belts, flame-retardant clothing and filter media.
