PBT injection molding process and mold conditions:
Drying treatment: This material is easily hydrolyzed at high temperatures, so the drying treatment before injection molding is very important. It is recommended to dry in the air at 120°C for 6-8h, or dry in the air at 150°C for 2 to 4h. The humidity must be less than ﹪. If drying by moisture absorption, the recommended drying condition is 150℃.
Melting temperature: 225～275℃, recommended temperature is 250℃.
Mold temperature: 40～60℃ for unreinforced materials. The cooling circuit of the mold must be well designed to reduce the bending deformation of the plastic part. The cooling process must be fast and uniform. It is recommended that the diameter of the mold cooling circuit is 12 mm.
Injection pressure: medium (up to 150MPa).
Injection speed: The fastest possible injection speed should be used (because the coagulability of PBT is very fast).
Flow and gate: It is recommended to use a circular runner to reduce the pressure loss in pressure transmission (empirical formula: runner diameter = plastic part thickness﹢㎜). Various gates can be used. Hot runners can also be used, but care must be taken to prevent leakage and degradation of materials.
