PBT is a thermoplastic (semi)crystalline polymer, and a type of polyester. PBT is solvent-resistant, with very little shrinkage during molding, high mechanical strength, heat resistance up to 150°C (or reinforced with glass fiber at 200°C), and can be treated with a flame retardant to make it non-flammable. Polyterephthalate is used in electrical engineering housings, but also in the manufacture of plug connectors in automobiles. It can also be processed into toothbrush fibers and some mechanical keyboards used in keycaps, because it is resistant to wear and tear. PBT can also be made into yarn that can be incorporated into sportswear. Positioning of PBT in Film and Extrusion As a polyester in film and fiber, PET has obvious advantages in performance and cost. The main reason for this is that the elongation process enhances its heat resistance, strength and rigidity. Before PBT injection molding, it must be dried at a temperature of 110~120°C for about 3 hours, the molding temperature is 250~270°C, and the mold temperature is preferably controlled at 50~75°C. Once the material is cooled from the molten state, it will immediately solidify and crystallize, so the cooling time is short; if the nozzle temperature is not properly controlled (low), the runner (nozzle) is easy to cool and solidify, and the phenomenon of plugging will occur. If the barrel temperature exceeds 275°C or the molten material stays in the barrel for more than 30 minutes, it will easily cause the material to decompose and become brittle. When PBT injection molding, it is necessary to use a large nozzle to feed the glue. It is not suitable to use a hot runner system. The exhaust of the mold should be good. It should be processed under the conditions of “high speed, medium pressure and medium temperature”. Recycling, when shutting down, it is necessary to clean the material pipe with PE or PP material in time to avoid carbonization.
