PMMA has high mechanical strength: PMMA has a relative molecular weight of about 2 million, which is a long-chain high molecular polymer, and the chain forming the molecule is very soft. Therefore, PMMA has relatively high strength, tensile and impact resistance. It is 7 to 18 times higher than ordinary glass. The melting point of PMMA is relatively low: the melting point of PMMA is about 130-140°C (265-285°F), which is much lower than the high temperature of about 1000 degrees for glass.
