1.Mechanical properties

Since POM is a highly crystalline polymer, it has a high modulus of elasticity, high hardness and rigidity.

It can be tested at -40~100°C for a long time.Moreover, it is resistant to repeated shocks and has little change in strength.The intensity is rarely affected by temperature and temperature changes.

POM is the most excellent type of fatigue resistance in thermoplastic materials with low creep.

2. Thermal performance

The POM has a high heat distortion temperature, a homopolymerization of 136 ° C, and a copolymerization of 110 ° C.However, due to differences in molecular structure, the copolymerized formaldehyde has a higher continuous use temperature.

In terms of the long-term use temperature of polyoxymethylene, it is about 100 °C.The acetal copolymer can be continuously used at 114 ° C for 2000 h, or continuously used at 138 ° C for 1000 h.The temperature can be used up to 160 °C.

According to the US UL specification, the long-term heat resistance temperature of polyoxymethylene is 80 ° C ~ 105 ° C.

3. Chemical resistance

The basic structure of polyoxymethylene determines that it does not have a solvent at room temperature.At or near the melting point of the resin, almost no solvent is found, and only a few substances such as perfluoroacetone can form a very dilute solution.

Therefore, POM is highly resistant to organic solvents and oil resistance in all engineering plastics.

Especially in high temperature conditions, it has quite good corrosion resistance. Moreover, the size and mechanical strength do not change much.

POM has good compatibility with various pigments and is easy to color, but since some pigments are acidic, pigments for POM need to be carefully selected. The production of the masterbatch is also far more demanding than the general resin. POM cannot be colored with dye due to its crystallinity.

4. Electrical performance

One of the good electrical properties of POM is that the dielectric constant is not affected by temperature and humidity. The difference in trace impurity levels caused by different manufacturing processes can have an order of magnitude effect on volume resistance.

Insufficient POM performance: relatively high density, opaque, not acid resistant; large molding shrinkage; low melting point; thermal degradation is quite rapid at higher temperatures. Thermal oxygen degradation also occurs in the presence of oxygen.

In addition to the above properties, homopolyformaldehyde has high density, crystallinity and mechanical strength. The short-term strength, modulus, elongation, heat distortion temperature, creep resistance, heat aging resistance and hot water resistance of the copolymerized formaldehyde are superior to those of homopolyformaldehyde, and the molding temperature range is also wide.
