Unfilled PPS Granules
A very easy flowing unfilled grade. This grade demonstrates excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability. Intended for extrusion applications that do not require high melt strength and for compounding with various fillers.
Polyphenylene sulfide (Unfilled PPS Granules), known as polyphenylene sulfide. It is a kind of thermoplastic special engineering plastics with excellent comprehensive properties. Its outstanding characteristics are high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and superior mechanical properties.
PPS is a kind of sulfur-containing aromatic polymer. Linear PPS is crosslinked at 350 ℃ to form thermosetting plastics, and branched chain PPS is thermoplastic.
（1） Performance of Unfilled PPS Granules
(1) Unfilled PPS Granules are a plastic crystalline resin, its crystallinity is about 65%, and its appearance is white or amber. The density of pure PPS is 1.3 ~ 1.35g/cm3, but it is rarely used alone. Most of the PPS used are modified grades, such as glass fiber reinforced, inorganic filled and carbon fiber reinforced. The density of modified PPS increases to 1.60 ~ 1.68 g / cm3
(2) Unfilled PPS Granules have high strength, high rigidity and dimensional stability. It also has good rigidity under high humidity conditions. It has outstanding fatigue resistance and creep resistance. Its water absorption, oil absorption, molding shrinkage and linear expansion coefficient are very small.
(3) The structure of PPS contains sulfur atoms, and its oxygen content index is 46% ~ 53%. It can burn on the flame, but does not drop, and it can extinguish itself when it leaves the flame. It has excellent olefin resistance.
(4) The heat resistance of PPS is 275 ~ 291 ℃, the thermal deformation temperature is 135 ℃, and the Glass Fiber Reinforced PPS can reach 260 ℃ and the decomposition temperature is 400 ℃
(5) PPS have good high resistivity and low permittivity, and its electrical insulation changes little with temperature. Even at high temperature and high humidity, PPS still maintains good electrical insulation performance.
(6) Unfilled PPS Granules have excellent chemical stability. In addition to strong oxidizing acids, such as concentrated sulfuric acid, nitric acid and aqua regia, PPS can resist the corrosion of other acids, bases and salts, and is insoluble in any organic solvent below 200 ℃. Its corrosion resistance is almost equivalent to that of polytetrafluoroethylene.
(7) Unfilled PPS Granules are an inert substance, which is taken orally. However, when the temperature is higher than 370 ℃, a small amount of thermal decomposition of PPS will occur, and a small amount of harmful gases such as so, cos, CO and CS will be produced.
