Modified PBT plastic flame retardant
Although compared with PET, PBT is at a disadvantage in price, but it is still growing rapidly at a rate of 15%-20%. The main reason is that it has relatively good comprehensive performance, which is mainly reflected in the following aspects: ① Fast crystallization rate , Rapid prototyping, convenient for large-scale processing; ② low water absorption, excellent electrical performance and little change with humidity; ③ good weather resistance, suitable for outdoor use, and excellent chemical resistance; ④ excellent mechanical properties. PBT has fast crystallization properties, polyamide also has a considerable crystallization rate and relatively close melting point, and has excellent anti-dissolution properties and excellent mechanical properties. The main difference between these two materials is that the moisture absorption of PBT is lower than that of polyamide, and the water absorption of PBT 24h is o. 08%, while polyamide 6 reached 1.6%. The properties of polyamide will change with humidity, the modulus and strength will decrease, and the impact strength will increase. Even in some cases, polyamide products may exhibit additional swelling. Therefore, the designer of polyamide products must consider the impact of environmental factors on product performance. In comparison, PBT has low hygroscopicity, and the size and mechanical properties of products related to environmental factors rarely change, showing relatively good weather resistance. Compared with other engineering plastics, the unmodified PBT resin does not show excellent mechanical properties. The main disadvantages are: ①large crystal shrinkage rate and poor dimensional stability; ②sensitive to notches. Due to the two shortcomings of PBT, its use is limited and its mechanical properties need to be modified. Modifications mainly include strengthening, toughening, strengthening and toughening, flame retardant and so on.
